“Hamster Wheels”
It seems like life is moving faster and faster with every day. We all live in a world where we are constantly being bombarded with information, data, things to do, and constant stressors that leave us feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stressed, and overworked.

You don’t need more to do; you need to do LESS more often. Sometimes you have to take a moment to pause and reflect.
What’s in your life that makes you feel like you’re on a never-ending hamster wheel?
Is it something you can change?
Is it something that you can take a break from?

Even if you can’t completely change or stop the cycle of your “hamster wheel” completely now, you can control… your speed and your reactions.
You have to decide to take back your life. Your time. Your sanity.

Prioritize the things that are important and have to be done, and leave the others behind. Learning how to do less isn’t necessarily the easiest thing, but it’s a necessary thing so you can have more time for the things you care about most.

So that you can have more time to be quiet with yourself and focus on your self-care needs. Embrace your to-do list, but learn to get comfortable and accept that the length of your to-do list does not equate to your value as an individual.

You are wonderful with or without the “to-do” list.
You are still amazing despite how much of that list actually gets completed. There’s no one that can evaluate or critique you for what you do because they are not living in your shoes too. No one. Not one of us have the exact same story or experiences or path. Your stories are unique to you and your journey.
Even on your toughest days, you remain a rock star of a parent, a sister, brother, daughter, niece, nephew, co-worker, friend or any other title or hat you may have. None of this can be seen through a completed or incomplete “to do” list.
So give yourself, grace.

Sometimes, you just have to let it be, until another day because you are more important than that list of things left incomplete.
It’s time to get off the hamster wheel.
Recharge. Overcome overwhelm and stress. Reclaim your precious time and find joy in the little moments of life.
Self-care isn’t about indulging yourself in expensive spa treatments or new clothes. It’s about doing something for yourself that makes you feel good. That brings that stillness and peace that you are yearning for.
Often it’s in the simplest of things—whether that’s taking a long bubble bath and taking the time to slowly moisturize your skin with your favorite creams or lotions.
Maybe it’s getting a manicure and talking for 10 extra minutes to someone instead of rushing on to the next thing on your “to-do” list.

Whatever that moment is. Whatever that “thing” is. You may already know what it is. Maybe, you don’t know what it is.
Either way it is time. It’s time to pour time into yourself. It is time to take charge of your needs and desires and feed your soul. It’s time to recharge your batteries so that you can tackle your problems as they arise with renewed energy and enthusiasm.
Take life by storm, don’t let the storm take over your life. Find peace in traveling along this journey we call life. Productivity begins when you accept that it’s connected to your output. Your output is directly connected to your self care.

So, the next time you are feeling overwhelmed, stressed, anxious. Like a deer in headlights. It is your mind, your body, and your soul telling you that, “Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is relax.”
